EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AT BRIGHT START
Our inclusive early education program is run by qualified and registered early childhood and primary school teachers who provide one on one support for all children’s academic needs, whether this be school readiness for pre-school aged children, or assistance with literacy and numeracy for upper primary school aged children, and everything that falls in between!
Our teachers take a holistic approach in supporting all individual children’s needs, by incorporating their therapy goals into the program and ensuring learning is made to be fun, encouraging an intrinsic motivation to learn. The program can be run at our clinic in Seaford; at school, kindergarten or daycare; or even in the comfort of your own home.
Our goal is to inspire a love for learning in the children that engage in the service.
What skills can inclusive education focus on?
- Literacy
- pre-literacy skills for children in prior to school settings who may need a head start when they get to school. Pre-literacy skills are the fundamental skills that children need to develop before they are able to advance and learn academic skills at school such as spelling, reading and writing.
- Writing, reading, spelling and speaking and listening skills for children from Foundation year to Grade 6.
- Numeracy
- Early numerical concepts such as beginning number sense, measurement and spatial knowledge.
- All mathematical skills and concepts for primary school aged children such as number and algebra, measurement and geometry and statistics and probability.
- School Readiness
- Fine motor skills.
- Gross motor skills.
- Play skills for developing imaginative play, independent play and turn taking games.
- Increasing independence in self-care tasks such as hand washing/opening and closing lunch box/zips on bags and jackets/shoes and socks on and off.
- Therapy Support
- Working collaboratively with your child’s OT’s, physiotherapists and speech therapists to ensure all goals are incorporated into the program.
- Transitions and Behavioural Support
- Preparing your child for the transition from kinder to school.
- Transitioning between activities, including being able to attend to an activity for a reasonable amount of time before transitioning onto the next activity (working on concentration and focus skills).
- Transitioning from one environment to another.
- Behavioural support, assisting children with coping mechanisms for when transitions become overwhelming.
- IEP and report writing
- Individual education plans – this can be done to assist teachers and parents to appropriately tailor learning suited to the individual child in order to further help them reach their academic goals.
- NDIS report writing.
- Resources
- We can make resources tailored to children’s individual needs for use at school or at home.
